If he uses the services of a solicitor, not only would he break the
habit of a lifetime, he could no longer claim to be an LIP.

Others might consider him to be an LIP, but the acronym would not then
mean "Litigant In Person".

I leave it to you all to devise alternative meanings and, however
uncomplimentary they may be, to post them here; I am sure that it
would not be difficult to improve on "Litigious, Irritating Person".
