When I lived in the DC area in the early '90s, there was something
called "The Sarge's Fitness Program." It was based on Army PT. You
showed up at a park somewhere early in the morning, and the
"instructor" took you through an Army PT session, finishing up with a
group run. They met daily, rain or shine. I wonder how successful it
was, and if it's still around?
I know a lot of gyms offer so-called "boot camp" exercise classes. Not
the same thing though.
You're right. Nothing like a battalion run at 0530 with 500 guys
running in formation, all sounding off. Makes me want to re-enlist
just thinking about it.
