I do not need to research anything, I'm well over 70, disabled too now,and
have worked on a volunteer basis all my life for the disabled, ill, young
and aged. I also did 15 years as a union rep fighting cases for them. I have
a son with learning difficulties and my step-son gave up a well paid post as
an industrial chemist in research and development to become a social worker
for the disabled. My late wife was a lay member of the local mental health
committee and my step-son's wife works with deprived children. Between us we
have obtained allowances and benefits for a great many people. Furthermore I
do know, from personal experience, the difference between, "Old", and, "Old
& Disabled". In any case my gripe was against those who really are not
entitled to a badge but who have one by deception. If a person is old and
needs a BB then there are legal ways to get that badge. Trouble is the local
councils have often handed these out to those who should really not have
them and have thus brought the entire system into disrepute. I have a near
neighbour who has a BB, he and his wife have a nice hobby - Hill-walking.
'Nuff said.
